- Costa Brava Cruise Ports announces that MedCruise’s 56th General Assembly will be held from 26 to 29 May 2020, hosted by the port of Palamós and its tourist destination
- As opening event in the 2020 Assembly, the ports of Palamós and Roses and the Costa Brava destination are being promoted with a video to 150 professionals from cruise companies, ports, tourist boards and tour operators who are members of MedCruise

Within the framework of the General Assembly of the Association of Mediterranean Cruise Ports (MedCruise), which is currently being held at Antibes (France), the manager of Ports de la Generalitat, Joan Pere Gómez, and the vice-president of the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board, Jordi Masquef, representing the Costa Brava Cruise Ports brand, have announced today, Wednesday, that MedCruise’s 56th General Assembly will be held from 26 to 29 May 2020 at the Costa Brava, hosted by the port of Palamós and its tourist destination. The event has served to consolidate the international outreach of the ports of Palamós and Roses, their respective towns and the tourist destination within the cruise industry.
The new promotional video made for the ports of Palamós and Roses and the Costa Brava destination was also shown. Highly appreciated by the attending members, it highlights the cultural, gastronomic, sports and leisure activities that can be practised in the province of Girona. Being chosen to organise next year’s event is thanks to the hard work done by Costa Brava Cruise Ports’ member institutions and organisations, who asked MedCruise to organise an Assembly back in 2014. Since then, they have worked together to ensure the success of the forthcoming Assembly at the Costa Brava.
In 2020, the ports of Palamós and Roses and the destination will host one of the European cruise industry’s leading events for 3 days. It will be attended by about ten cruise companies, a hundred or so Mediterranean ports that receive cruise traffic, tour operators and tourist boards. Joan Pere Gómez Comes said: “The Catalan Government is very pleased to host one of the cruise industry’s top events for the first time at the Costa Brava.” And he added: “It will be a major occasion for the industry and a magnificent opportunity for the port of Palamós and its tourist destination. During 3 days, they will be the centre of attention of the Mediterranean’s most representative cruise companies, tour operators and ports.”
Jordi Masquef pointed out that “hosting this important world cruise industry event will be a major challenge for the Costa Brava” and he added that “the region’s tourist industry is ready to show the attractions and quality services offered by the destination to industry professionals and cruise visitors”.
